Custom KYDEX Magazine Carriers for OEM and Private Label

Short answer: A custom KYDEX magazine carrier program should identify the exact magazine body and base configuration, insertion orientation, retention method, mounting interface, handedness, material, hardware and acceptance checks. Similar caliber or model names do not prove interchangeable fit.

Magazine-carrier development options

Pistol magazine carriers

Single- and double-stack profiles developed around an approved physical reference or controlled dimensional data.

Rifle magazine carriers

Larger-format shells with defined insertion depth, contact zones, drainage, mounting footprint and load orientation.

Belt and IWB/OWB formats

Attachment geometry specified against the real belt width, thickness, carry position, cant and access requirement.

MOLLE and modular formats

Controlled adapter patterns for named panels, webbing footprints and installation directions rather than assumed universal fit.

What must the buyer define?

Decision Required input Prototype check
Fit reference Exact magazine, body dimensions, baseplate and permitted variants Seat, remove and reinsert every approved configuration
Orientation Rounds-forward/rearward intent, left/right position and insertion direction Confirm the retention feature works in every allowed orientation
Retention Passive or adjustable method, contact zones and user adjustment Evaluate security and access under the written test condition
Mounting Belt dimensions, MOLLE host or adapter interface Inspect installed movement, clearance and fastener engagement
Product family Single, paired, stacked or coordinated holster assortment Check spacing, adjacent access and shared visual standards
Commercial release Quantity, color, marking, included hardware and packaging Approve the complete sellable SKU and pack-out

Relevant development platform

Why is adjustable retention not automatically universal?

An adjustment screw can change clamp force over a designed range, but it cannot compensate for every difference in body width, taper, feed-lip geometry, baseplate or surface. Define the permitted reference set and test the carrier with representative production magazines. If several references are approved, record the required spacer or hardware configuration for each one.

Can the carrier share hardware with a holster line?

Shared clips, hole patterns and fastener families can simplify sourcing and replacement kits, but the magazine carrier creates its own load path and clearance conditions. Verify screw length, post engagement, spacer stack, edge distance and installed movement on the actual shell rather than inheriting approval from another product.

OEM release checklist

  • Part number, revision and exact approved fit reference
  • Allowed magazine and baseplate configurations
  • Insertion orientation, handedness and carry position
  • Retention architecture and adjustment instructions
  • Material grade, thickness, color and texture
  • Belt, MOLLE or modular interface and complete hardware stack
  • Fit, access, movement, edge and cosmetic acceptance checks
  • Marking, packaging, included parts and repeat-order controls

Coordinate the carrier with CarryMold’s equipment-carrier family, belt attachments, MOLLE components, materials and finishes, quality framework and private-label program.

Frequently asked questions

Can one carrier fit every magazine of the same caliber?

No. Caliber alone does not define the external geometry, baseplate or retention contact areas. Approve exact references or a deliberately tested dimensional range.

Can a magazine carrier be supplied with belt and MOLLE options?

Yes. A controlled shell interface may support several approved adapters when hole pattern, hardware, clearance and load behavior are validated for each configuration.

Can magazine carriers be private labeled with matching holsters?

Yes. Materials, colors, marking and packaging can be coordinated as a family, while each SKU retains its own fit, mounting and approval record.

Release MOLLE mounting as part of the magazine-carrier specification

When MOLLE is required, use the OEM MOLLE mounting guide to define the host platform, footprint, orientation, hardware stack and installed acceptance checks.
