MOLLE Kydex Holsters & Mounts
Start with the host panel
The vest, pack, vehicle panel or organizer is a structural interface. Webbing width and pitch, fabric stack, laser-cut geometry, stiffness and neighboring pouches can change installation and movement even when products share a MOLLE description.
MOLLE interface release table
| Interface decision | What to record | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Host panel | Manufacturer/reference, construction and relevant area | Named sample or controlled drawing |
| Footprint | Rows, columns and clearance envelope | Installed photo and occupied-area record |
| Adapter path | Weave, clip, lock and removal sequence | Installation work instruction |
| Orientation | Vertical, horizontal or indexed angles | Allowed-position inspection |
| Load control | Equipment mass, rotation, lift and movement limits | Configured test result |
Separate the carrier from the adapter
A modular architecture can share a controlled carrier-hole pattern across belt, MOLLE and fixed mounts. The benefit is inventory flexibility; the tradeoff is an additional joint whose fasteners, stand-off and anti-rotation features require inspection.

Frequently asked questions
Is every PALS or MOLLE panel identical?
No. Representative host panels should be included because construction and tolerances affect installation.
Can orientation be adjustable?
Yes, when the allowed positions, locking feature and loaded-movement acceptance criteria are defined.
Can one carrier transfer between MOLLE and belt use?
A shared interface can support that goal after both complete mounting assemblies are separately approved.
Validate the mounting interface on the host platform
The MOLLE KYDEX holster mounting guide defines webbing footprint, orientation, anti-rotation, clearance, removal and the complete hardware stack for sample approval.
